Throughout the course of history, great civilizations have risen from humble beginnings, developing new technologies, marshaling armies, and constructing monuments that stood for centuries. Inevitably, as these great civilizations grew larger, their ambitions forced them into a conflict that only one could survive.

In every game of 7 Wonders: Duel, you take command of one of these fledgling civilizations and set it on a course to greatness. You can choose your path to victory—perhaps you will march your army into your opponent’s capital, perhaps you will demonstrate your scientific supremacy, or perhaps you will ensure that your civilization is more prosperous and advanced than your enemies. No matter which path you choose to follow, the titular wonders are crucial to your plans.

There are twelve distinct wonders included in 7 Wonders: Duel, and each offers its own abilities. Today, we’ll take a closer look at some of these wonders!

Wonders of the Ancient World

At the beginning of the game, each player drafts four wonders, giving you the chance to choose which wonders are most likely to support your plan for victory. Each wonder offers unique and powerful effects, so choosing which wonders you want to build can establish your strategy for your entire game.

For instance, perhaps you hope to crush your foes beneath the might of your massed military. The Colossus wonder is worth two shields, pushing you closer to your opponent’s capital along the military track. In addition, this wonder offers three victory points to your final score. Alternatively, you may be looking for a massive influx of gold that you can use to fund your creations. In that case, you can build The Temple of Artemis. Building this wonder automatically produces twelve gold coins for your bank, and what’s more, it allows you to take a second turn immediately!

If you’re simply trying to score as many victory points as possible, you can’t do better than building The Pyramids. This wonder offers nine victory points to the player who constructs it—potentially giving you a crushing lead over a rival civilization. You may also take advantage of the detritus of other nations with The Mausoleum. This wonder lets you take all discarded cards and construct one of your choice for free. Not only does this let you potentially build a card that you couldn’t have normally constructed, The Mausoleum is also worth two victory points for your total at the end of the game.
